LEGO Creator Assembly Square (10255) – Everything You Need To Know

LEGO Creator Expert Assembly Square (10255)

Earlier today, LEGO has officially announced the Assembly Square modular building, the latest addition to LEGO super popular modular series.

It actually celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Modular line which started in 2006.

The set consists of 4,002 pieces which makes it the largest modular to date!

It will retail for USD$279.99 and will be ready and waiting on the shelves on January 1st 2017.

I’m really loving this set as it incorporates a lot of design elements from the past modulars and there are a tonne of ‘easter eggs’ to spot if you look closely at the photos and designer video (I’ve embedded it below).

I have compiled a list of Easter Eggs that Designer Jamie Berard included in this Assembly Square:

  • Printed tile to with Cafe Corner box art
  • Cafe Corner (Micro version)
  • Horizon Express (Micro version)
  • Green Grocer (Micro version)
  • Market Street (Micro version)
  • Camper Van (Micro version)
  • Emerald Night (Micro version)
  • Eiffel Tower (Micro version)
  • Portrait of Bank Manager (From Brick Bank) in photo studio

With all these micro builds of EOL sets, you have to wonder if Jamie is trying to tell us something here.

And as a builder, I’m super excited about the new elements that will be getting their debut in the Assembly Square.

  • 2×2 corner tiles with a cut corner in four different colours – This will be great for creating interesting tile patterns with the shield tile from Nexo knights.
  • 2×2 and 4×4 curved tiles – Can definitely create some interesting patterns with these.
  • 1×1 quarter circle tiles – These came out in some friends sets with water melon prints but here we have them in plain form.
  • 1×1 brick with studs on two adjacent sides – SNOT users will go nuts over this.
  • Door frame, 45 degrees – Now we have have slanted doors!
  • 2×3 Printed tile – This would be the first ever 2×3 tile that I’ve ever come across so it might just be a sign of things to come.
