The Largest LEGO show in Malaysia is taking place right now at the 1 Utama Shopping Centre!

AFOLs from all over the country has descended upon the nation’s capital to construct not one but two huge LEGO dioramas. There is are two themes for the displays, one “City” and the other is “Friends”.

The City diorama was designed to be a working city with subway trains, ramps, waterways, high-rise buildings as well as some of the modular fashion.

The buildings on display are exquisite but what some of the audiences do not get to see are the detailed interiors. Take this guitar shop for example, the facade already looks amazing but lift up the roof and it reveals a complete guitar shop with some of the more obscure LEGO guitar accessories adorning the walls.

I really liked the way the City was planned with the undulating skyline with some buildings still ‘under construction. It really gives the effect of a bustling city scape that is actually alive.

The Friends section had a “Heartlake Park” which is an amusement centre jammed packed with rides inspired by actual Friends sets. The dragon themed hurricane is a personal favourite.

The other section is dedicated to a township with hospitals, parks, shopping malls and even a school house.

The Malaysia’s LUGs (Lego User Groups) we out in full force and it was really inspiring to see the members of LUG of Malaysia (LOM), Synergy LUG and Asia Bricks LUG all coming together for the love of the brick.

It was also a really cool chance meeting to see Cid and Hsinwei from Mocer League who traveled all the way to be here for the event and brought their amazing LEGO ML airport to add to the City diorama.

I would urge anyone who is in the vicinity or those who are traveling to Kuala Lumpur in the next few days to come and check out the LEGO displays as it is really something to behold in person.

Photos can only show so much, seeing it in person takes on a whole different experience. For the benefit for those who can’t make it down, I took a lot more photos which you can find on our Flickr page or scroll down to check out the full album.

I would also like to congratulate everyone who has participated in the creation of this event on an amazing job well done and also thank our lovely hosts as well.

Oh, and if you need a little bit more incentive (like the dioramas are not enough to entice you) to head on down, Toys ‘R’ Us Malaysia is offering quite a few discounts and redeemable gifts.
