This LEGO Snowman (6197301) is the third in a series of exclusive LEGO Singapore Christmas Mini-builds that is available for redemption from the 1st of Dec to the 10th.
The Snowman is designed by Nicholas Foo, Singapore’s only LEGO Certified Professional, and thanks to his design style, this would probably be one of the most worth it sets to get.
Each of the mini-builds are free with a minimum purchase of SGD$120 at any LEGO Certified Store from now till the 10th of December.
The Snowman is actually part of a larger scene but it is the only one that can exist as it’s own vignette.
Even at 113 parts, this was probably the fastest of the Christmas mini-builds that I’ve experienced so far. It can be easily built by your kid over lunch time.
One thing that I like about these mini-builds is that it does give us a bit of insight as to how a LEGO Certified Professional like Nicholas Foo designs his builds.
The final model does reflect his ‘cubic’ style of creating LEGO characters and it lets us in on the types of elements he would use for the internal structure.
As with these mini-builds, the overall concept does not allow for much play features to be included but if you want you could replace the 2×2 plate that is holding down the snowman’s head with a turn-table element and it could swivel.
Now here is where this build really shines. For a freebie, there is a lot of useful elements included like the 2×4 white tiles, 1×2 white, red, green and transparent tiles. And don’t forget the 8×16 white plate too.
This is actually quite a bonus for budding builders as these elements can be costly on bricklink and it is a nice tip of the hat to see it included into this mini-build.
As mentioned earlier, this design is essentially an internal cube frame with the other elements to give the snowman it’s shape and form layered on.
This is actually a good way for beginner builders to get a hang of creating their own brick built characters.
