As some of you have already known, I made a trip up to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur at the start of the week to check out the LUG of Malaysia‘s (LOM) “MY 60 MY LEGO BUILD” event.
This massive display of MOCs reflecting their country’s culture and heritage is to celebrate Malaysia’s Merdeka day, also known as their Independence Day from the British Empire.
There are twenty beautiful LEGO models depicting various landmarks from across the country like the iconic Christ Church in Melaka to the lush gardens of Tai ping lake.
There are some really interesting dioramas like the “Jalan Jalan Kari Makan” by Brandon which loosely translates to “walk around find good food“. It features a cacophony of hawker stalls arranged in such a manner that makes it immensely interesting to pour over. It reminds me of the LEGO Ninjago City but with a Malaysian theme.
The largest display measures 1.8m across which is the beautiful LEGO rendition of the Ipoh Railway Station by Winston.
There is also a section of cultural micro builds that are the mini-versions of the largest scaled model that is on display.
The event is located at Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia and will be there till the 17th of September.
Great job guys! Can’t wait to see you all again at the next event! Special thanks to those who hosted me and brought me around to experience your wonderful country!
