The bi-monthly Bricksworld AFOL night was held yesterday at their flagship store in Ion Orchard Mall where attendees we able to get a first look at the upcoming sets ahead of everyone else.
On display was the much anticipated LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) and the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin (10262). There were also the next wave of LEGO Star Wars sets showcased in the brand ribbon.
Absent, however, were the LEGO Harry Potter sets and LEGO Harry Potter minifigures but you are still able to pre-order them during the AFOL night so that you will be guaranteed a set come launch day.
After the usual introduction, the activities began with a quick quiz on some LEGO Trivia with questions like “what is the most common 2×4 brick available on Bricklink?” or “guess this minifigure?”.
The group that aced the quiz, saw themselves winning a LEGO BrickHeadz Hermione each.
The next portion of the night saw them building their own “Fantastic Beast” from a packet of Mixels. The night was decidedly Harry Potter themed to make up for the lack of LEGO Harry Potter sets to preview.
This was actually part one of the activity which the next part saw them build a diorama to house their creations as well as craft a story of how their creatures got together.
Each team was allowed one LEGO Classic Creativity Box, one small tub of Pick-A-Brick (PAB) and 20 elements from the Build-A-Minifigure (BAM) station.
There were some really interesting stories and dioramas which will actually be on display at the LEGO Certified Stores.
The best story wins a LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express (40028) polybag which has a street worth of USD$40.
It is always fun to catch up and hang out with everyone over a night of LEGO. Looking forward to the next AFOL night! Hopefully we’ll see a certain LEGO Hogwarts Castle on display by then?
