LEGO FRIENDS Apartments (10292) Minifigure On-Screen Inspirations

The announcement of the LEGO FRIENDS Apartments (10292) set is chock full of tributes to the actual episodes and the minifigure design is also no exception.

They torso and leg assembly designs are directly inspired from some of the iconic episodes throughout the series so I took some time to uncover which scenes influenced these lovely minifigures.

Chandler Bing

It took a while to track down Chandler’s awful ties but I finally tracked down it’s appearance in the episode “The One With the Cat” (S4E2). It only appears in the intro where Chandler tears his jacket while trying to get past Joey’s ill-constructed television console.

Rachel Green

Rachel’s outfit appears in the first season of the series in the episode The One Where The Monkey Gets Away” (S1E19). Ross’s Monkey Marcel poops in Monica’s left shoe and he escapes the apartment when Rachel goes outside to dispose of his fecal matter.

This is her waitress get up with the plaid skirt and that is probably why she is paired with the takeaway coffee cup accessory.

Ross Geller

Ross’ minifigure draws inspiration from the episodes “The One With All The Resolutions” (S5E11) where in a bid to be hip and trendy, wears a pair of leather pants to a date which ends up horribly.

The 1×1 brick with the round tile attached should represent the “baby powder” he used to prevent his thighs from chaffing that ended up all over the bathroom (and himself).

Monica Geller

Monica’s getup is straight from the episode “The One With All The Candy” (S7E9) where she makes a tonne of candy to please her neighbours. The torso design is definitely inspired by the sweater and apron that Monica wears in the scene where Chandler questions her need to be liked.

Phoebe Buffay

This one was a bit tricky to track down but her sweater from the episode “The One Where Phoebe Runs” (S6E7) matches the torso design of her minifigure. The outfit appears when she tries to record a voice message on the answering machine with Rachel.

Joey Tribbiani

Joey’s design is inspired by the episode “The One Where No One’s Ready” (S3E2) where Joey wears every single piece of clothing that Chandler owns in retaliation for him hiding all of Joey’s underwear.

Janice Litman

Janice’s minifigure appears pretty late in the series in the season seven episode “The One With Ross’ Library Book” (S7E7). She wears this leopard print blouse in the majority of the episode where she tries to crash at Chandler and Monica’s apartment.

While I felt that the set could have included more rooms, I have to admit that the minifigures were spot on. I loved how the graphic designer managed to translate all these iconic outfits into minifigure form.

The LEGO FRIENDS Apartments (10292) set launches on May 19th for VIP members and June 1st for the public.
