Error In LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons School Crest!

Some really observant LEGO Potterheads spotted a tiny spelling error in the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors Edition (76391) yesterday.

The set includes a rendition of the letter that Harry receives from Hogwarts announcing his acceptance to the coveted school of magic and the Hogwarts’ school motto reads “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus” which is Latin for “Do not tickle the sleeping dragon”.

Latin: Draco (dragon), dormiens  (sleeping), nunquam (never), titillandus (tickle).

Now, the one printed on the tile for the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors Edition (76391) is spells the motto as  “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandos” with an “-os” at the end instead of “-us”.

While I’m sure it was an honest mistake, I can’t help but wonder this managed to slip through the stringent quality checks that LEGO products are always put through. Not to mention that this set is in collaboration with an IP (Intellectual Property) partner.

This would actually be the second time in the last week that LEGO has slipped up in this manner, the first being using the wrong logo for the box art of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship (75309).

LEGO accidentally uses the logo of the Galactic Empire instead of the Republic

Perhaps this is due to the increase of new sets being released and production not being able to keep up? Hopefully LEGO will get a handle on it before this becomes a regular thing although misprints are a boon for collectors though.
