Earlier today, LEGO officially announced their latest addition to the LEGO House exclusive collection with the LEGO House Dagny Holm Master Builder 40503.
It is a tribute to one of the pioneer Master Builders whose work helped populate the first LEGOLAND theme park in Billund, Denmark.
A sculptor by training, she designed and built a host of animals and fictional characters and the buildings that are still in standing today. (LEGO lasts forever right?)
The set consists of 1068pcs and features a brick built Dagny in her workshop with a series of builds that include the LEGOLAND Giraffe along with the wooden duck and the Nyhavn buildings.
The LEGO House Dagny Holm Master Builder (40503) set will retail exclusively at the LEGO Store in the LEGO House for 599DKK which translates to approximately SGD122 / USD90.
It is available on March 1st (today) which is appropriate as it is the anniversary of Dagny’s passing, 18 years ago.
You can read more about Dagny Holm here:
Dagny Holm was the first LEGO Master Builder, and she made a massive impact on model designing with her way of working with LEGO bricks in a cubistic and realistic way and her legacy can still be found in many areas within the LEGO Group.
Dagny Holm was the niece of Ole Kirk Kristiansen, the founder of the LEGO Group. She started her career in LEGO Design on her 19th birthday in 1936 – but only as an intern for a three-month period. For the next 25 years she lived in Copenhagen where she was educated in Classical Sculpture Design. In 1961 she returned to Billund as a LEGO model builder. She was incredibly talented at getting the shapes right, resulting in authentic animals and fictional characters. She became responsible for all LEGO model designs of the LEGOLAND Park in Billund, which opened in 1968.
