Singapore AFOL Summit 2017 Round Up
As some of those who know, LEGO Community Engagement representatives Jacky Chen and Tanja Friberg are travelling throughout Asia and made a quick stop in Singapore to catch up with the Singaporean AFOLs (Adult Fan Of LEGO).
The venue was held at the LEGO Singhub office here and two local Recognised LEGO User Groups, Bricks User Group Singapore and Titan’s Creations were on hand to organise and facilitate, along with LEGO Singapore, the first ever AFOL summit.
It was essentially a gathering of the local AFOL scene but due to space constraints, only about thirty people of the community were able to attend. Hopefully we can secure a bigger venue next time to accommodate more AFOLs.
The summit was designed as an open forum for the AFOLs to present and discuss issues relating to the LEGO Ambassador’s Network (LAN) as well as an overview of how LEGO can build better relations with the local community.
The LUG Ambassador’s also shared some of their challenges of running a LEGO User Group as well as their LEGO Inside Tour experience. There are more photos in the flickr album which you can see here.
An AFOL summit would not be complete without LEGO Builds so in true AFOL tradition, participants brought along some of their creations, or MOCs (My Own Creations) as we like to call them, to display and share building tips and techniques.
Jacky and Tanja organised a mini building competition where the participants had only 15 minutes to build something out of the LEGO bricks provided. There were some truly interesting creations, notably a particular handphone stand which I will leave the photos to speak for themselves.
It was an amazing sharing session and I do hope that there will be more in the future. Special thanks to Jacky and Tanja for taking the time to stop by and share with us invaluable information on how to foster growth within the community.
