LEGO Everyone Is Awesome (40516) Official Images
When I first saw the leaked box images last week I thought that LEGO was releasing a monochrome minifigure starter pack for the adult collectors as there is a faction of fans who collect these.
And now I realised that it was also to celebrate Pride Month for the LGBTQIA+ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual).
It features eleven minifigures in a spectrum of colours which is to represent the diverse fanbase that LEGO has acquired over the years.
I’m just eyeballing it here (as I still do not have an official list of colours from LEGO) that the colours are:
- Black
- Reddish Brown
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Dark Green
- Blue
- Purple
- Light Royal Blue
- White
- Dark Pink
If anyone has a more accurate list of colours, do drop it in the comments below! (Thanks in advance!)
There is a cool brick built base which can be expanded if you want to add more colours although it will increase in depth if you follow the initial design.
The set contains 346 parts and will have a recommended retail price of SGD54.90 / 34.99 EUR/USD. From what I’m told, this will not be a limited edition set and will be on the shelves for a couple of years so don’t worry if you’re not able to get one on launch day.
LEGO has always looked to the AFOLs for ideas and I think it is great that they are embracing the different fandoms that have come out of this plastic brick.

Billund, May 20th 2021: The LEGO Group today announces LEGO® Everyone is Awesome a set designed to celebrate the diversity of our fans and the world around us. The buildable display model is inspired by the iconic rainbow flag which is used as a symbol of love and acceptance by the LGBTQIA+ community and features 11 monochrome minifigures each with its own individual hairstyle and rainbow colour.
Set designer Matthew Ashton, Vice President, Design said: “I wanted to create a model that symbolises inclusivity and celebrates everyone, no matter how they identify or who they love.
“Everyone is unique, and with a little more love, acceptance and understanding in the world, we can all feel more free to be our true AWESOME selves! This model shows that we care, and that we truly believe ‘Everyone is awesome’!”
The 346 piece stands 10.24cm tall and has a depth of 12.80cm – a perfect fit for most shelves or window sills. It goes on sale on June 1, to mark start of Pride Month, and will be available through LEGO.com and LEGO branded stores, with a recommended retail price of 34,99 EUR/USD.
Matthew said that the set was also a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community within the LEGO Group and amongst the brand’s adult fans.
