LEGO teased the LEGO Super Mario theme a couple of days ago and they have just officially announced it with a first look at one of the upcoming sets!
Since this is the generation of subverted expectations, LEGO has completely reinvented the ‘game’ by releasing a brand new product line that combines the interactivity of a tactile toy with playable levels made out of LEGO bricks.
Neither a video game nor a traditional LEGO brick-based set, LEGO Super Mario is a new product line that features an interactive LEGO Mario figure who collects coins in real-life game levels created with LEGO bricks
Essentially, you’re getting a solid piece BrickHeadz with LCD eyes and mouth that interacts with other modified bricks in a customisable environment.
While this is come completely from left field, there looks to be quite a handful of new elements that are debuting with this theme. There are a host of other sets in the series that could prove to be more in line with a traditional LEGO set.
Only time will tell if this new venture will gain in popularity so we’ll just have to wait and see. The sets are slated for an August 2020 release.
