LEGO BrickHeadz La Catrina (40492)

LEGO had actually revealed this a couple of days ago and I had actually missed posting about this on the blog (I had shared it on Instagram).

This would be the first time that LEGO has produced anything related to Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the Mexican tradition of praying or and remembering friends and family members who have passed.

The La Catrina BrickHeadz will consist of 141 pcs and have a recommended retail price of SGD16.90 / USD9.99. It will launch on August 1st, 2021.

La Catrina is actually an icon of the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday that originated from a zinc etching by the Mexican illustrator José Guadalupe Posada at the turn of the 20th century.

I’m actually quite intrigued that LEGO has chosen to tackle these cultural holidays and I hope that they do more in the future to celebrate the diversity of its fans.
